Since the age of five, Gino J. Patti has been scribbling on whatever he could get his hands on. Raised in suburban Bergen county NJ, Gino entertained his 3 brothers by making up cartoon characters and telling crazy stories. Though most of his educators frowned upon Gino being preoccupied with drawing, they often recognized his creativity and imagination. This passion for creating and conceptualizing eventually lead Gino to attend Pratt Institute, the renowned New York art school, where he majored in Communications Design, a blend of illustration and graphic design. By the time he had finished his first college semester, Gino began to work for the third largest comic book publisher in New York, Valiant Comics. He absorbed as much responsibility as he could and eventually found himself aiding the developing of characters for the writers and artists. In 1997, during his senior year at Pratt, Gino was recruited by the Walt Disney Television Animation Studio, and was offered the opportunity to enter the animation world through their training program. Preferring to work in and around the entertainment capital of New York, Gino decided instead to pursue a career in design without the help of Disney. Choosing to walk his own path instead, he began a journey that took him beyond drawing and into the core of conceptual thinking. During his fifteen years of professional work, Gino has tried his hand at every facet of design, and has done work for companies such as Acclaim, Curious Pictures, Grey Advertising, Sony Walkman, Dean Foods and Nabisco. Gino took on any project he felt he could add his flair to. Some were television ads, others were character designs for animation. Anything from magazine illustrations to comic strips were worthwhile projects. Eventually Gino began contracting himself out to large design firms. There he not only is hands on in design for online ads and webpages, he also contributes concepts for logos and branding as well as overall creative concepts, directing newer designers to find their own inner styles. Whether it was being a skilled drawer, slick designer or creative conceptual thinker, Gino has explored every creative avenue. He continues his search for self expression and still is searching for his dream project. |
